Habitat for Humanity

Cincinnati Alpha’s teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati (HFHGC), in November 2018, to give back to the community!  We helped to continue the building of a home for a deserving family in the Cincinnati Community.

why it matters

  • nearly 1 in 3 households in Ohio experiences a “housing problem”
  • they are cost-burdened, overcrowded, or living in functionally substandard housing
  • Cincinnati’s rent-to-income ratio is 49.1%, making us the second most expensive rental market in the nation
  • Children of homeowners are 116% more likely to go to college
  • Homeowners’ children are 59% more likely to own their own home within 10 years
  • Children of homeowners are 28% more likely to graduate from high school

how it works

  • Habitatbuilds/rehabs homes through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials
  • Homes are sold to low-income homebuyers at cost with affordable mortgage
  • Homebuyers put in 250-500 sweat equity hours and complete financial and homebuyer education classes before closing
  • Homes range from 1,100-1,200 sq ft, 3-4 BR, 1-1 ½ BA
