In continuing the Fraternity’s mission of “providing service and advocacy to our communities” on Saturday, June 26 Delta Gamma Lambda and the DGL Youth Foundation partnered with the Freestore Foodbank to hold its eighth mobile food drive at Rothenburg Preparatory Academy, located at 241 E Clifton Ave. This was the final event for the Chapter’s 2020 – 2021 fraternal year.
From 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Alphas loaded packages of food into vehicles of those who were physically or financially impacted by the pandemic. The results were as follows:
- 31 families were served by car, via mobile food drive;
- 32 families were served via delivery of food packages to the Queen City Soup Kitchen, and
- 46 bags of food were left with Rothenberg Prep for summer students.
A total of 109 families were served for the day. Life Center was also onsite providing information to participants about organ, eye, and tissue donation. Since July of 2020, Delta Gamma Lambda and the DGL Youth Foundation have given out over 72,000 pounds of food, including fresh produce, meats, and milk to communities in need throughout Cincinnati.
We’d like to thank the Freestore Foodbank, Life Center, and Rothenberg Preparatory Academy for a successful event. Our next Mobile Food Drive will be on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Rockdale Academy. Be sure to visit our website for more details, coming soon.
